Israel officially the State of Israel, is a country in Western Asia located on the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea. It borders Lebanon in the north, Syria in the northeast, Jordan in the east, and Egypt on the southwest, and contains geographically diverse features within its relatively small area. The West Bank and Gaza Strip are also adjacent. With a population of about 7.28 million, the majority of whom are Jews, Israel is the world's only Jewish state. It is also home to other ethnic groups, including most numerously Arab citizens of Israel, as well as many religious groups including Muslims, Christians, Druze, Samaritans and others.

ISRAELI warplanes pounded the Hamas-ruled Gaze Strip on Saturday, killing at least 229 people in one of the bloodiest days for the Palestinians in 60 years of conflict with the Jewish state.

Hamas vowed revenge including suicide bomb attacks in the "cafes and streets" of Israel, as Israeli air strikes continued late into the night. Israel said the offensive would continue as long as necessary and that it may also involve land forces.

I spent a few weeks in Israel some time ago.

Went to learn about the history of the region and especially see Jerusalem Old City.

After studying all I can about the region, in my opinion, the present state of Israel should not exist. The UN/Brits were wrong to hand over Palestine to them as the spoils of war, almost as an appology.

The region has no future while countries are based on religious laws developed and set in stone in ancient times.

Me and my hubby are travellling to Jersualem next month. We are planning to stay in Abraham Hostel Jerusalem. Is there anyone in this forum who has stayed there before. What is your opinion on the place

I think that you need to clarify if you are traveling on a budget or you have money, because if you are traveling on low budget I think the best way for you is to go to abraham hostel jerusalem, it is located at davidka square, which is the center of jerusalem. If you have more money you can also go to hotel in jerusalem, but it is more expensive.
