So whats your favourite airline and why?

I like Singapore Air, due to their service and the fact they are one of the few airlines i have not had any problems with (probably will now next trip :o)

My favourite airline is the cheapest. :)
Amen to that :) But they do have some drawbacks as I recently found with Jetstar.

Hi Willy,

Welcome to ATF :)

I have never flown with Jetstar internationally so cant really comment. But (as you probably know) on domestic flights you need to pay for food and there is a bit less legroom then say Qantas.

So, depending on the food situation for Jetstar International, it probably comes down to price to be honest

In my case it was flight delays and their setup at Melbourne airport is a joke.

Yes on international flights the food is $30 extra which includes all the softdrink you can drink (beer is still extra).
I have tried to fly with jetstar domestic and my flight was canceled then i was put on a qantas flight it was delayed by 2 hours.
I have heard that if Jetstar don't get enough passengers on a flight they will cancel it. Not sure if this is true, but my above domestic flight i asked to be seated near the exit (more leg room) and was told because the flight wasn't full they wouldn't let me choose a seat.

In my case it was flight delays and their setup at Melbourne airport is a joke.
One classic example of Jetstar service is someone who went to Adelaide (from Hobart) for a weekend. Bottom line is Jetstar bungled things so badly she couldn't get there in time to check in for the flight back which would have been on the same plane. The flights were supposed to be a couple of days apart.

Lots of horror stories like this one with Jetstar. Another one I witnessed was what happened when I did fly with them. Waited in the check-in queue for about half an hour (literally). The person behind me was refused boarding because they hadn't made their way through the queue in time for the 30 minute boarding cut off.

The staff actually seemed quite happy saying that, despite it being completely their fault for not being able to process passengers in a timely manner. With most tickets sold online or by phone, it's not as though they wouldn't have known how many passengers would be at th airport at any given time needing to check in so there's really no excuse for a half hour wait followed by saying the passenger arrived too late.

So domestically I usually fly Virgin. You still have to pay for food etc, but in terms of the basics of what an airline is supposed to do, get you from A to B reasonably on time, they're pretty good in my experience. Not perfect, but good enough and their prices are quite reasonable. :)

That is amazing that your bags were never found.

Glad that didn't happen to my dogs when Qantas forgot to put them on a plane from Sydney to Darwin.

and the least stop overs.

cheapest and the least stopovers?? you're asking too much buddy! the cheapest is usually the dodgiest airline that makes you stop in 5 differant countries, each one of them over night!

With Jetstar, as i have delt with a lot of domestic bookings with differant airlines in my line of work i have noticed that even though every airline is subject to change, jetstar will do it more often. The problem with that is that there is only 1 or 2 flights a day to most destinations so if that 1 flight is cancelled then you have to go on another day or pay for another airline to fly you out that day!

It doesn't even seem to happen if the flight doesn't have many passengers because i can see how many are on each flight and even full ones get cancelled!

by the way, i'm flying singapore airlines in july for the first time and i'm really excited because they give you free singapore slings! i can see a new favourite coming up!

Singapore Airlines' cabin crews are sweet..

Emirates Airline will pamper you like your in the first class seat even if you are sitting on the economy class.

Philippine airlines staff's are very accomodating and has the sweetest smile you'll get on your travel experience.

i finally flew singapore airlines and unfortunately had a potentially bad situation with them. We were going from Adelaide to Phuket with about 50 mins transit in Singapore. This would have been enough time but the woman in Adelaide didn't give us a boarding pass for the connecting flight.

We had to check into the singapore to phuket flight in singapore! anyway, she made out that this was normal (which we found out later it wasn't), when we got there they told us that the plane was over booked and because we didn't check in in adelaide one of us couldn't get a seat on the plane!!

finally after some frustration he got us all on the plane and we had to pretty much run to our boarding gate but i did lose some confidence in the airline.

The most frustrating thing for me is that they even went on to blame the travel agent for not booking all the seats!! i'm the travel agent and he was full of crap! now, i'm even more worried that whenever the airline stuffs up that they're sitting there bagging out me to my customers!

i can't say i'll be flying them in a hurry!

i like singapore airlines. never let me down and price is quite good if booked directly through website. check regularly because they have many deal. also have flexibility with your dates and you can get a great rate.

to the person that said "no stop over", im a different animal, i quite enjoy even short stop over to see the other countries airports, and if time permits to go outside for a quick squize.

for that reason, i flew singapore to philippines before, and also cathay pacific, so i could see changi and HKIA. ive flown direct too and PAL is certainly cheap.

because singapore airlines use singapore as a trunk destination and you must stop there, its usually quite easy to co-ordinate a short or long stopover. i wouldnt leave such a small gap as the post above. try a few hours to stretch the legs, bathroom/shower break, eat , internet, etc.
