Thought I would jump in and start a thread for my first post.

What’s people’s favourite place for a snow Holiday? I try to do two OS boarding trips a year and just came back from Furano, Japan. http://www.skifurano.com/

It was my first time to Japan but will not be my last. I have never had so much deep dry powder in my life. To top it off great food and the most polite friendly locals I have in counted anywhere! The snow conditions were simply the best I have seen. Just about every day we got lots of fresh snow and if it didn't snow there were still LOTS of fresh un-touched back country areas to hit. And the locals were telling us that it was a hot dry winter!!!

Be warned thou its deep out there. If you go back country in Japan be prepared for an adventure. BIG Snowshoes, Avalanche beacons, probes and GPS/maps. (Oh and ropes had the two scariest moments of my life when I fell through a covered over crevasse!! then the next day had to hit 115 Km to out run an avalanche!! Some serious adventure to be had :D)

Most Aussies go to Niseko when skiing in Japan which is why I stayed away from that area. But that may be the best if you don't want to get to far off the beaten track as far as language and foreign tourist facilities. (And leave the un-tapped powder of Hokkaido to me)

Hey TL,

Im not a snow person myself, but have some mates who go to Japan every year also to board. Not quite sure where abouts they go. If you get a chance a bit of info in the Japan thread would be good too, I have heard its very different to the other Asian countries :)

Also have had mates go and work at Whistler in Canada and love it there.
