hi Goddie Pal !!! :)
i think that Australia Zoo - it's got over 100- native and exotic species and one Crocoseum! The whole place is devoted to the education of visitors and conservation of all the species it cares for. You can get up close and personal with some of the animals there, such as the koalas and you can even roam freely with the kangaroos in their

Noosa, even though it's a bit too well moneyed these days.

Really depends what your after. But if you have enough time i would definitely suggest dropping down to Brisbane to check out the sights and sounds there. Go for a cruise on the river or something.

BRISBANE??!?! you haven't spend enough time on the sunny coast!! i'm with you kennas and i'd say noosa but to be specific i'd say i could spend the whole day in the noosa heads national park. pack and bag with lunch and lots of water then go through and find yourself a private beach!
just beautiful.... (brisbane???!?!?!?!)

I'd say Noosa as well but off season when there are not quite as many tourists there - there is a stunning walk through the national park that takes you all the way around to the beach on the opposite coast - then you can stop at the pub and get the bus back!
Bagara (not sure of the spelling) is also a nice, quiet spot north of bundaberg

When we were travelling up the coast some years ago we happened to be at Bagara beach at the right time and went out on a night tour to see the turtles laying their eggs in the sand

We saw the turtles there are well, although on the night we went there were only a couple - very cute to see them 'waddle' up the sand! completely off topic but saw the 'fairy' penguins on Philip Island in Vic and they were amazing animals!

A school comrade recently dived and explored the wreck of the HMAS Brisbane which was scuttled 2.8 nautical miles east of Mudjimba Island in 2005 to form the basis of a living reef off the Sunshine Coast. He said next time i'm up that way to definitely get suited up and go have a gander myself.
Surely that's memorable enough and a slightly classier, less plastic and less touristy attraction then found around the Gold Coast.
