Im travelling to europe next year and am thinking about doing a lot of travel on the east side of things. Just wondering if anyone has travelled to russia or romania and can tell me what it was like. Im having many difficulties finding a tour that covers both.

I've travelled to both Russia and Romania and can recommend them both but of the two Romania will be easier to travel to if you don't speak either language.

Russia is not friendly to independant travellers in the sense that it is set up for tour groups and organised tours. Romania is easier to travel around staying at hostels etc.

Romania is also much better situated if you want to visit nearby countries such as Bulgaria or Hungary.

Romania is far easier for the independent traveller. You can basically go anywhere and do anything without being hassled or hitting a mountain of paperwork.

But by the sounds of things you want a tour so I'd probably suggest Russia. It is far more spectacular than Romania.

If you should choose between Russia and Romania, I recopmend ju to visit Russia. Moscow and Saint Petersburg are the most beautiful cities in the world. In Romania, you should visit Transilvania and castle of vampire Dracula.

My opinion is Russia. This is bigger country, with rich history, art and entertainment.
