View Full Version : Cheap Flights - How Far Would You Go?

Lots of new ideas are being bought up recently by the budget airlines.
Would you pay to use the toilet on a flight? Would you book a standing-room-only flight, or on a flight with train or bus style seating, to save money?
Or is worth the extra money to be comfortable, even if it is only a 2 or 3 hour flight?

Had this chat with my mates recently and actually thought about standing room only flights, just like a big cargo carrier of passengers :D Obviously it would never pass any occ health and safety regulations though.
Another idea was to just have 'tubes' for people to lay in, so that way you can stack people on top of each other :)
Personally i would only do anything like that for short-haul flights. And i cant see how RyanAir can get away charging people for the toilets. What if people get air sick??

Somebody's been watching a little too much Futurama.
I would sign-up for a standing room flight provided it was only short-haul (interstate) if it meant I could save a few extra bucks on the plane ticket.
The whole 'charging passengers to use the toliet' argument is pretty stupid though. What's next, pay to get your oxygen mask, I mean come on this is lunacy.

LOL perhaps i should have been clearer. I meant pod like things on the plane (like those hotels in Japan) so that way people could lay down on the flight and you could probably get 3 'stacks' of them, increasing the amount of people the plane could carry.
Here in Aus though a lot of flights are not full anyway, especially recently, so it probably wouldn't work anyway

Well I had my seat bumped twice and got paid $400 in cold hard cash before. That's $800! Paid for my flight alone!

i am not willing to stand, pay for my toilet or lay in a tube just to save a couple of bucks. i'm very serious about my comfort and have been in so many situations where i have thought that i should have just paid extra for the convenience. sometimes you can't put a price on comfort and convenience.

No cheap flights for me.
I'm more into upgrades. :p
I was on a free flight once from Rwanda to Kenya but I had to sit on the floor. The Russian steward sat on a milk crate during takeoff while having a smoke. He did have to get up at one point though to shove a towel in the door to stop it from shaking.
