Hi,
I have done some travelling with family but am now planning a trip with my bf. We are both undecided about where we want to go... so after looking at a million different places we thought maybe we will settle on an around the world flight package.. then go from there.
What are your experiences of this type of deal..pros/cons etc.
Or if you have any experience in a country that you think we should consider feel free to let us know.
Our plan is to go some time next year most likely just before general peak seasons (depending on the country) or during the christmas holiday (depending of work status).
Thanks!

Awesome idea!
I did one a few years ago through One World alliance and it was sensational value.
Flights I got, for about 4k were:
Sydney - Santiago - Rio - Lima - Caracas - (overland) - LA - Vancouver - (overland) - Seattle - NY - London - (overland) - Istanbul - Barcelona - Cairo - (overland) - Tel Aviv - London - Delhi - Hong Kong - (overland) Singapore - Tokyo - Melbourne
Absolute blinder of a trip and will be doing something similar in a few more years.

Why don't you try to visit Philippines. You can choose to go in any of the beautiful beaches here. I bet that you'll surely enjoy it! In addition, night life gigs are present here too.

Hi there,
If you plan to head to South America, Africa or both as part of the trip plan on around 3800-5000 grand for the flights. A simpler route through Asia, Europe and the States you can do for much less. If you have the time seeing more in South America or Africa might be the go as they are hard to get to for Aussies. Europe and parts of Asia are easier to get to and around - just depends on what you really want to see.
I'm a former travel agent if you have any questions feel free to email me about flights. Good luck!

I tend to travel slowly so a 12 month ticket (the max on any flight) is never enough - I tend to book a one way and then book flights to other countries (very cheap in asia for example) and back home from there - but if your only going for a while you can get some good deals

I'm sure you will love China, it's beautiful and I wish to return there. The only problem I have - people don't speak english and every time I went out the hotel i always ask the american receptionist to write for me in Chinese the place where I wanted to go and just give it to the taxi driver. The taxi are so cheap in China, but it's good to walk to see the beautiful places.

My around-the-world trip was the culmination of 15 years of planning really. I decided on all the hysterically key important icons and places of interest (imo) and then set course. Most of those ended up being religious places for some reason. eg, where JC was born and died, where the Buddha received enlightenment, important pagan monuments, etc. Would have loved to go to Mecca, Babylon and Ugarit, but tough to get to as a whiteboy. Next time.
My next around-the-world trip will hopefully be on a yacht. Whoohoo!! Counting down.
