Here is a sun rise at Mt Sinai, ANZAC Day 2005. The shaddow is Mt Sinai. No one spoke to me from the burning bush at St Catherine's Monastary fortunately...

And some more history....
This was where Jesus was crucified.
Well, the church is over the place where it's claimed to have happened... :)
And some old wall that strange men in funny outfits bash their head against. Apparantly the last remaining wall to some old temple...

Heres one looking back on the campsite after a ride up through the mountains on horseback. It took us about 4 hours to get to our next campsite upriver. We had to walk the horses down the mountain passes as it was to steep to ride. They gave me Russian made riding boots that cut into my feet. By the end of the day i could hardly walk, both the front and back of my ankles were red raw!:o
That was a minor incident in a fantastic trip though.....running out of beer was bad too.:(
Cheers,

Amazing building, can I ask what it is Kennas?Yes, lots of pigeons, not bad really.
The building is a church which I've forgottten the name of :o and it's in St Mark's Square, which I think Napoleon called the 'finest drawing room in the world' or something....

Do I need to add Mongolia on to places to go before I die?

I've been to a lot of beaches.
One of my favourite things in the world is bare feet in soft powdery sand.
The Perhentian Islands off the north east coast of Malaysia are winning as my best islands and beaches in the world.
Hard to get to, but worth it!!!

When i was a youngster spent some time on Timon Island off Malaysia. That was relatively untouched at the time also.

LOL your looking young and healthy there Kennas :pYes, was 25 I think.
I count Rwanda as a holiday not for all the dead people but for the opportunity to visit the mountain gorillas up near Rhuangheri (spelling) near the border with Zaire. It's where the movie Gorillas in the Mist was filmed.
Spent about 4 hours walking up the side of this volcano and eventually stumbled across a family of about 15 gorillas just lazing about. About 4 of the females had babies hanging off them and we got to within a couple of metres.
Cost me $20.
Count it is a top 5 experience ever. Maybe No 1.
I want to go back and take the wife there.
Incredible experience.
Just bloody hard to get to.....

The Angkor region is a must do in the world, up there with Luxor in Egypt. Just one gigantic open air museum....
Unfortunately, Angelina didn't jump out of a temple and takle me to the ground... :(

This is one of my favourite travel photos, not because it actually shows anything much but the memories of the time.
This is a little monkey I made friends with in Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon.
He was just a couple of months old and had been saved by the lodge owners from some black market industry across the border with Ecuador, or something.
Whatever the case, I had him attached to my arm for about a day as I lazed about in the lodge listening to the jungle....
Would be awesome to have one of these as a little friend back home ....

We got there by train and then taxi then boat from Thailand.
But, you can fly or train from KL to some town close ish and then taxi - boat.
I really want to go back, it was that good.
Actually, almost didn't leave. We were there for a month and negotiated with a little business on the beach to start an internet shop with them.
He he, I have a photo of the shop and the section of the beach we were going to move to.....

Unfortunately, the camera I took those photos with (Nikon D80) now belongs to some pawn shop in Mendoza, Argentina, after it was stolen there .... :(
Lucky for travel insurance, and that I can claim the camera and the lens separately as there is a $1K limit on any one item. Still don't get my money back, but I do miss my baby.... :(
OK another photo... hmmmm where from....
Must go to Halong Bay, Vietnam!

Is there many tourists around that place Kennas? I wonder if it would be safe to go camping near there?Lots of camping places around the mountains but on the Inca Trail you need to have booked in months in advance.
There is another region more spectacular called the Cordilla Blanca north of Lima which is incredible. 6000m + peaks. Amazing. No need to book there, but bring oxygen! And warm clothes!!!!

Went into the Sacred Valley on the weekend and stayed in a nice hotel/lodge called Villas Urubambas. We had transfer from Cuzco, a nights accom, a dinner, and horse riding with 'Cuzco for you' (silly name for a horseriding outfit, but anyway) included in a special price as it was a business outing.
During the horse ride we went up to Salineras de Maras, pre-Incan salt mines in the mountains. Awesome views.
