The government is much stricter now on working visas, I got a visa a couple of years ago to teach English and loved it - a beautiful country, busy, hot, crazy, fun but I loved it!

Teaching English is probably the biggest employer or foreign employers but don't expect to make a fortune!

I taught in rural Thailand on 30,000 baht per month, only $1000 AUD at the time. Struggled to spend 100 baht ($3 per day though). Dinner was 20 baht (0.75 cents) and accommodation was paid for.

The well paid jobs are in Bangkok but if you want the real Buddhist immersion experience plus a wage that's good relative to local standards the country side is good for a 6 month stint.

Thailand may not offer you a high revenue compare with what you get in your country, but your cost of living here is low also you will get a funny life with many interested surroundings instead. Sometimes Money v.s. Experience, you'd select one. Cheers!:)

You do get a 'funny' life style that's very different to Western style living. Makes you appreciate diversity more and let go of any preconceptions you have, especially in rural Thailand.

Very personally enriching and it's not something you can typically measure or put a price on. I am living in Melbourne, Victoria now which is also good but in different ways (i.e. food options and diversity of cultures). Be careful of the time it takes to adjust living in different cultures, my brain took a while to adjust coming back and forth!

Thai people are nice; a good place to spend the holidays. However, I don't think working in Thailand is a that easy; coping with the busy city and asian food could be very difficult.

think it twice, why do you want to work in Thailand? your purpose and the outcome you want to see.

I went on holidays in Thailand, which was fun but looked at teaching in Thailand and would be good for a bit of travel but you won't save anything.

If you're looking for a high paying job in Thailand, your best bet is to be hired in your home country. While Thailand is, indeed, a great place to live, it isn't easy to find a high paying job upon arrival...unless you already have the money to open and build up your own business.

I've heard there are many camps and teaching English jobs over there as well as many volunteer work.

If you are looking at more main stream type of work that could develop as a career than the Travel Industry is quite huge over there. You can look at airlines such as Jet Star, Qantas and British Airways as they all have offices over there.. or even look at some group tour companies.

I've heard that Visa's can be quite difficult for Thailand so also try looking into getting a sponsorship.
