Phuket advice please!

I am new to personal O/S travel so if you can give some advice on any or all of the questions it would be great appreciated. I am looking to go to Phuket in a few weeks for a week.

Can anyone recommend a good 3-4 star hotel?

Any info on the best websites to use for airfares?

Is Phuket a party town at this time of the year?

As i would be traveling alone (spare of the moment trip really), is there any other web forums where people can hook up with others for travel that you know of?

Plus any other advice you think will be helpful!

Some friends of mine are off to Phuket next week and got a cheap flight through JetStar, not sure what they are like but very cheap.

I'm not sure of any forums, but when you get there you'll find lots of travellers, many of them solo travellers.
