Berlin

One of the great history cities in Europe - forthe Nazi and Cold War buffs of the 20th Century.

Take a stroll up the Unter den Linden from the Pergamon and Museum Island all the way up to the Reichstag and the Brandenburg Gate. Down through the Tiergarten (where we watched the European champions league final) which was BY far the BIGGEST party I have been to...

... to the Hotel Adlon (famous for its entertainment of the rich and famous, and also the Michael Jackson baby dangling incident). Of course, the imposing new American embassy is close by on the square.

My favourite monument? If you blink you will miss it. In a square next to the Deutchse Oper Haus is a memorial to the Nazi book burning. A plastic hole in the ground which if you look down into it, you see the understated beauty of the white empty bookshelves.

Gotta love Berlin! Anyone else been? Stay at Wombats near Rosa Luxomberg Platz... great party atmosphere and clean!!! Wombats is one of the best backpackers... they are in Vienna, Munich and now Berlin opened in May this year. I was lucky enough to be there in the first month.

I went to Berlin when i was about 6yo, but cant remember any of it. I can remember other parts of Europe from that trip though, so obviously Berlin isnt very striking to 6 year olds ;) :D

I stayed at St. Christopher's hostel which is about a 5 minute walk from Rosa Luxemburg Platz.

Best hostel I've ever stayed at. Clean rooms, friendly staff and a 24 hour bar (Belushi's) with lots of drinks specials and free wireless internet! GOLD! :D

Yeah, during the day... but not at night.

There were other places to drink during the day ;)

Free tours (tip the guide at the end, worth doing) At Brandenberg at 11 and 1. I see youve been Brad.
Weekend is a good club, and if you've got a bit of cash Watergate is good for if you like minimal house music and they get some good DJs.
Hostels- Pegasus is a cheap option as far as hostels go at 9€ a night, nothing special but a decent place for the price. Id probably go for something a bit more central, its a really spread out citycentre

you are right - Berlin is lovely.
My first experience was in early 1990 - with my parents at that point. Most overwhelming thing was that the wall was still there at some places....
peolpe were selling pieces of it! Still got some at home. A piece of history.

Berlin is well worth a visit!

I absoultely loved Berlin.. we were only there 6 nights but I easily could of stayed longer.. even just walking down the streets taking photos is amazing.

The free tours that Sonny07 mentioned is definitely worthwhile, they take you to all the major attractions and have a thorough knowledge of the history... i actually couldn't believe it was free.

I definitely recommend Berlin.
