Egypt is a country in North Africa, with the Sinai Peninsula forming a land bridge to Western Asia. Covering an area of about 1,010,000 square kilometres, Egypt borders the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Gaza Strip and Israel to the northeast, the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south and Libya to the west.
Egypt is one of the most populous countries in Africa and the Middle East. The great majority of its estimated 82 million live near the banks of the Nile River, in an area of about 40,000 square kilometres, where the only arable agricultural land is found. The large areas of the Sahara Desert are sparsely inhabited. About half of Egypt's residents live in urban areas, with the majority spread across the densely-populated centres of greater Cairo, Alexandria and other major cities in the Nile Delta.

Yeah, Flew into Cairo, trained up the nile to Luxor, then caught the scariest overnight bus in the world over the Sinai to Dahab, spent a few weeks diving there before going over to Jordon - Petra and then into Israel.
Awesome experience but no 'holiday'. Was hard work.
Baksheesh, baksheesh !!!!
Arrrrghhh!!!

A SHARK has attacked and killed a French tourist diving in a remote site off Egypt's Red Sea coast, in the first fatal shark attack in the country since 2004.

It was a female victim diving in a spot which is not frequented by tourists. Divers usually got there to get away from the more popular crowded spots.
These things are bound to happen occasionally. Im sure if a shark walked up onto land humans would want to kill it...

I'm surprised someone's been killed. I didn't see any sharks at all diving off Dahab. Maybe lucky that I didn't.

I know that the Tuna divers here say its not the sharks you see that you worry about, its the ones you dont that normally go for you

Hello Friends..!!
The major attractions in Egypt include the many historically important places such as the various Pyramids and the temples of Ancient Pharoic civilization, the Sphinx and the mosques. The other important places for tourist interest include the oases in the Eastern and Western Desert of Egypt. The Sinai region of Egypt is one of the highest visited places in Egypt....
With Regards,
Peter George.

I would agree with a previous comment that visiting Egypt is definately an experience but not a holiday. Unless you are just flying in to a resort, I guess.

I am planning to include Egypt in some of my future trip plans. I just hope things will stabilize before I decide to go.

I had to cancel my trip to Egypt earlier this year so like you I'm waiting to find out when it will be safe again as there is supposed to be elections in September which could bring more unrest? What do others think about safety in Egypt at the present time or in the near future for travel.
