Hey all you worldly type travel dogs! How was everyone's 4th of July weekend? Hopefully just the right amount of crazy and chill. Which is how I always like my weekends to be.Was anyone able to do some traveling? Whether it be some nearby getaway, or a full blown 4th of July holiday extravaganza. Of course with any sort of traveling, there are bound to be some glitches in the plans, so does anyone here have any sort of hotel horror stories? We've all been to that shady hotel/motel in order to pinch a few pennies and enjoy a decent vacation, and with that comes all sorts of other issues that are not hilarious at the time maybe, but wonderful anecdotes to share with all! So let's hear em!There's this video from Hampton Inn featuring a kind of film noir, swanky, little poetic description of all the sorts of things you can encounter while staying at a sub par hotel. Check it out!!!!

A GROUP of Canberra students were stranded in Darwin when they arrived to catch their Tiger Airways flight to Bangkok - only to be told the airline had not operated from the Top End since October.

What is it with Airlines and their total lack of care for their customers??

I always try to make the best of a bad part of a trip, even travel delays are a perfect excuse to write a travel journal or read a book.

G'day,

We're an Australian TV company making a TV series about Aussie travellers' horror stories - and we mean HORROR... kidnaps, extortions etc where your lives have truly been in danger. Ideally the stories will be in the last five years and they won't just be a single incident (eg a bus crash) but will slowly unfold and get worse: eg an abduction that turns into kidnap with real threat... and the threat should be personally directed at you (ie the show isn't doing stories where you were in the wrong place at the wrong time - eg the tsunami, Bali bombings, 9/11 etc).

For anyone appearing in the show there's a hefty appearance fee.

If anything personally threatening happened to you please post it here and/or email masonmedia@me.com.

Thanks a million...

None really spring to mind here.

Rode a motor bike around Thailand (almost twice) plenty of interesting things but none that'd be close to "horror"

I can really recomend it.

I'm looking at going again one day.

Was more than 10 years ago, well before my first digital Camera, bought the Bike in Thailand (A water cooled Yamaha 125CC ) not really intending on riding that far.

Repaired it in at least 20 different locations in the 50,000 kms that I rode on it.

This one is a bit funny, but also embarassing for me since it happened in my country.

I was travelling with my sister to jodhpur(in rajashthan india) by train. A group of aussie tourists were travelling in the same train, but they were going to jaisalmer . We had a good chat. Around 2 in night, there was a lot of noise in the train.

What i found was that the travel guide of those aussie people had got drunk and urinated on a fellow passenger and he had been asked to leave the train. I told this to the aussie travellers, they were amused and also confused.

Thankfully for them, they had made all the arrangements through a reputed travel agency. They called the company, and it made alternative arrangements for them

In the morning we had a good laugh about it.
