Argentina, officially the Argentine Republic is a country in South America, constituted as a federation of 23 provinces and an autonomous city. It is the second largest country in South America by land area, and eighth in the world. Its continental area is 2,766,890 kmē, between the Andes mountain range in the west and the southern Atlantic Ocean in the east and south. Argentina borders Paraguay and Bolivia to the north, Brazil and Uruguay to the northeast, and Chile to the west and south. Argentina also claimed 969,464 kmē of Antarctica, known as Argentine Antarctica, overlapping other claims made by Chile (Chilean Antarctic Territory) and the United Kingdom (British Antarctic Territory); all such claims have been suspended by the Antarctic Treaty of 1961.

One of my cousins recently arrived back in Oz from a trip to Argentina. She stayed in a ritzy hotel in Buenos Aires. Apparently the locals come across as very warm to tourists which is always a good sign. Not sure about the crime though. Regardless, between the steak dinners, red wine and tango lessons - needless to say, she didn't want to depart. Can't say I blame her.
Has anyone ever been?

I spent almost 5 weeks in Argentina and it is a great country (also a welcome relief from the poorer SA countries). I went from BA down by bus to Ushuaia via the lots of stuff on the way. Ran out of time so flew back.
I'd highly recommend staying in apartments in BA. Much cheaper than hotels plus you get the benefits of living amongst the locals, having kitchen, and laundry facilities.
The steak was really surprising. We think that we have great meat in Australia but what many don't realise is that most of the top beef is exported. The general quality in Argentina is way above what is available in you local supermarket or butcher. And cheap! Massive steaks are usually less than $10.
I never felt unsafe and the crime is fairly low due to the good standard of living. Much much better than nearby Brazil.
Lots more to say but I'll stop for now ;)
