Does anyone know if there are any free busses from the Canberra Airport to the city? Or how much does a taxi cost?

I have applied for a couple jobs in Canberra. Is there actually anything to do there or is it really as boring as people say?

it's really boring... there's enough there to cover a day or 2 and that's it... i'm not sure about the night life though.

It can't be any worse then Adelaide can it?:p Or Darwin for that matter:(. I have been there before though and there isn't really much to do.
I'll actually be in Canberra in Sept for a tournament but my sister and her Husband live there so it will be okay.
What jobs have you applied for Prawn? PM me on the other site if you don't want to talk about it here.

Mainly Gov finance roles. Departments like Treasury, ATO, APRA etc etc. I have a good mate that is living there at the moment, so if we do move at least we know someone.
And there is plenty to do in Adelaide, check the SA thread :p

I've heard canberra is a great place to live if you have a family, but as for night life etc its pretty lacking. My brother lived there for a couple of years and loved it.

It's been established that the ACT is a massive dustbowl wasteland which lacks nightlife (even the politicians don't stay for long) but let's determine the GOOD things about Canberra.
* It's perhaps the most well planned city in Australia and if you're sick of the coast and prefer a more 'inland' environment to live this is the place for you.
* Despite the lack of clubs, bars and pubs the city is full of young kids fresh from Uni working at the many Government buildings that surround the capital.
* Obviously the biggie, seeing Parliament House and Old Parliament House up close in all of it's glory. If you're a politics geek then you're in heaven here.
