Last week we fulfilled a long term dream and drove around the Mt Panorama circuit at Bathurst.
It was great. The track looks just like it does on TV but the details vary from what you thought.
Like, pit straight is not level, it is bumpy and the top of the mountain section is even tighter and steeper. It freezes the blood when you think of the speed the V8 Supercars.
The circuit is a two-way public road and the NSW police make sure that you understand that the speed limit is 60.
After a couple of laps we were thinking of asking the Bathurst police how much the fine would be for going around a bit faster. :D
We told the kids we never went faster than 220kph, and it was true. :rolleyes:
The circuit is right on the edge of town and is very easy to find. Be prepared to share your laps with caravans, trucks, bikes, oldies and hoons - travelling in both directions.
We had our lunch at the esses. Great view and nice vibe. There are toilets at the top but we never checked if they were open.
